Poet’s Corner: The Wheels of Eternity

Once upon a time, I spent a great deal of my time and effort attempting to be a writer.  Well, with getting married and having a family, I kind of let it fall by the wayside.  In fact, it has been over four years since I’ve wrote any poetry or prose.  Well, during my fever ridden sleep last night (see last post), for whatever reason I started thinking of story ideas.  Tonight, I sat down and wrote my first poem in a while.  Well, here goes:

The Wheels of Eternity

Someone somewhere sings a song of praise.
Another prays for hope long gone.
The God of Miracles hears them both
and the wheels of eternity move on.

Through Adam’s blunder and Abram’s big walk,
prophets and judges and kings,
God’s humble fall and a Savior’s climb,
the wheels of eternity keep rolling by.

Such a tapestry of wants and hurts and needs,
and yet my Jesus still looks at me.
A simple soul
with a long way to go.
A myriad of failures
amidst mercy and potential.

Living a renter’s life.
