Your Story

I’m listening to an audio book by Seth Godin, Small is the New Big.  In it, he mentions several times about telling your story.  Whether it’s in a business setting, or whether we’re just talking about how you go about your day as a stay-at-home mom, I want to present the question to you.  What story are you telling?  Do people like to read it?  Do they take a look at the cover and decide it’s not worth the effort?

Stephen Covey echoes this in his book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, when he opens the book with the chapter, “Living With the End in Mind”.  (I think that was the title, but I know it’s close.)  In it, he challenged each of us to think about the eulogy that will be given at our funeral.  What would we want people to say about us?  Then, after we have that speech in mind, we need to do the things that will make those ideals a reality.
