Last night Dessa and I went out for a long awaited night on the town with our friends Marty and Amy. Reagan stayed over at Marty and Amy’s with their two children, watched by a babysitter.
First, we went to Opry Mills Mall and watched National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets. Before I get to the movie, I just want to mention how easy it was to get our tickets. We ordered them online through Fandango (via the Opry Mills Website). When we got there, we got to go to a special kiosk and getting the tickets was as simple as swiping our debit card and it spitting them out. Much better than waiting in line, although it wouldn’t have been too bad since the movie theater wasn’t that crowded. I guess everyone was too busy doing last minute shopping. On a tangent, I’m so glad to be done with shopping early this year. For that matter, I’m just glad we could afford all the presents for the first year. That was a great feeling after stressing the last few Christmases.
Now, on to the movie. If you liked the first movie, you’ll like the second. I loved the first movie, so I really enjoyed this one. On a relative basis, I probably enjoyed the first one a little better, but this one was more puzzles, history, and action sequences. I would definitely recommend it for anyone who likes that genre.
On a related note, the previews showed three movies that I’m interested in seeing: Wall-e, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, and Horton Hears a Hoo. Of our party of four, I’m the only one with interest in Horton Hears a Hoo, which if you don’t know is a Dr. Seuss book. I think I’ll take Reagan and make it a Father/Son day out. Wall-e looks like the typical, funny Disney/Pixar film. Narnia just looks cool. If you were a fan of the books, it’ll make you drool.
After the movie, fueled by the funding of a Christmas gift card, it was off to Olive Garden. Then, fueled by another gift card, we stopped by Starbucks for a round of stuff that we didn’t need after a full meal, but we all definitely wanted.
It was a great night with great company. And it felt good to get out and have some fun without Reagan, although we both missed him a lot while we were gone. It’s funny how many times I’ve said that over the last 3 years. Every time we go out we feel the same way.
God Bless,
Brandon
