It’s a Great Day to be a Dad

Today, it’s just me and the munchkin.  Dessa is throwing a wedding shower for her cousin in Paris, TN, so Reagan and I are getting to spend the day together.  We started it by taking Dessa to Grandma’s house.  Before we left, Reagan took me to the TV and said he wanted to watch Cars.  We laid down on the couch and watched about half of it before Reagan got bored and decided that it was time to go to the library, which I had told him we would do today.

When we walked through door to the library, the librarian told us, “Good Morning.”  Reagan, sweet little boy that he is, held his finger to his lips and shushed her.  He said, “You have to be quiet in the library.”  It’s a testament to his sweetness that he can say this and still get the response, “He is so cute!”  What can I say, he’s his father’s son. :)

Reagan got to choose two movies,  It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and Dora and the Super Babies.  Then we found a couple of books and went to the story-time area and read them.  One was Picnic about a family of mice having a Picnic and the other was My Life as a Chicken where a chicken gets, among other things, kidnapped by pirates.  I figured that it’s good for Reagan to get a reality check and see what the real world is like every now and again.  Then we played with some letters and numbers puzzled where he did really good remembering which ones were which and got another “He’s so cute” as we were going out the door from the lady who’d been shushed.  Amazing what cuteness will let you get away with.

After the library, we went to Java Jack’s and got us a ‘treat’, which today meant that we got a Peppermint Mocha Frappe (their version of the Frappacino).  He took a few sips, said it was yummy, and then decided that he didn’t want anymore so I ended up with most of it.  It was “very dood” as Reagan would say.

That’s the day so far.   Just Daddy and Reagan having a good time.  He’s eating peanut butter crackers with chocolate milk at the moment and I’m growing a bit sleepy.  Maybe it’s naptime for both of us.

God Bless,

Brandon
