Today I turned 25. First, thank you to my wife for making this a great weekend. I even enjoyed the 5 hours that we spent in Opry Mills shopping for Christmas on Sunday
It really was a great weekend, even if it started with watching my Tennessee Volunteers lose to Cal. The highlight of that evening for me was the Velveeta/Rotel dip that is the official food of the football season. Also on Saturday, we were able to get groceries and our brakes fixed.
Sunday was a good day. Sunday School was again a 17 person class (and that’s not counting the baby or the four year old boy), but it went much better than the last class as we held it in the fellowship hall. The best part of the class had to be me praying Wes through (he and the class will no what I mean here :). After church was my 3rd birthday dinner (the 5th if you count Starbucks). Over the last few months, Dessa and I have gone to eat a couple of times under the auspices of a birthday dinner. This time it was Olive Garden, and it was by far the best food that I’ve eaten there, and that is saying a lot. I had some type of Italian Chicken and Dumplings. After Olive Garden, it was off to Opry Mills where we shopped for 5 hours for Christmas. I also got some shopping in by getting some jeans and two pairs of comfy shoes. Once we heard the announcement that the mall was closing, we hurried down to Starbucks for a Pumpkin Spice Frappucino. Luckily, I was the last person they let in line before they said they were closed. The rest of the evening when we got home was busy working on a powerpoint for church.
Today, my official birthday, the big event was that Marty Elkins and I were going to go to the Nashville Sounds game against Memphis. All was well until we got to Greer Stadium and found that it was deserted. I guess that it would have been a prudent course of action to note whether the game was home or away prior to going.
All in all, it was a great weekend. I have to admit, though, that I’m more excited about the week. This Wednesday I get to find out the sex of our new baby!
