My friend Marty and I are going through 40 days of reading Rick Warren’s Purpose Driven Life. I loved the point of Yesterday’s Day 5. It was saying that, Biblically, Life is a Test and a Trust. First, there are many people in the Bible who’s life turned into a test of their faith, such as Abraham and Job, a test of temptation, such as David and Samson, and others. God uses our life to see how we will react to the tests that it brings. When someone cuts us off on the Interstate, how will we react? If someone close to us is taken through death, how will we react?
The second, a Trust, is similar to the first. It was just a reminder that all that is in our lives, including our on body and life, ultimately belongs to God. It is His, but he has temporarily loaned it to us. He has entrusted these things to our care, and He is waiting to see what we will do with it all, which is where I think it sort of turns into a test. He has given me my job, so will I treat it as though it is His, or though it is mine to do what I will. He has loaned me this earthly body. Will I use it as if it is His, or will I do what I want to with it?
